International Relations Department The Jacob of Paradyż University of Applied Sciences in Gorzów Wielkopolski

Attachment to the Regulation of the Rector No 95/0101/2013 dated 30 September 2013 on the introduction of Organisational Regulations of the Jacob of Paradyż University of Applied Sciences in Gorzow Wielkopolski provides a legal basis for the activities of the International Relations Department.

 

The scope of international cooperation activities of the Jacob of Paradyż University of Applied Sciences in Gorzów Wielkopolski covers the following areas: teaching, learning, research and culture. Our university participates in the European Erasmus programme, which provides teaching and training opportunities for academic staff, and allows students to complete part of their degree studies abroad. We offer short-term internships for students, organise joint conferences, publish joint research papers, arrange meetings between foreign researchers and members of our academic community, and apply the results of research and development to practice. We offer a double degree programme and organise the Spelling Competition for University Students of Ukraine. Our students take part in enterprise management simulation games and are involved in special events celebrating the culture and customs of other countries, including the European Culture Festival and the Night of Creative Minds.

 

DeSant Hall of Residence

Built in 2001, the hall of residence offers accommodation to students of the Jacob of Paradyż State Higher Vocational School in Gorzów Wielkopolski is located at ul. gen. Józefa Piłsudskiego 9. Situated in the city centre, DeSant enjoys a peaceful location between two large parks: the Henryka Siemiradzkiego Park and the Mikołaja Kopernika Park. Convenient public transport links offer quick access to all school facilities.

The building has 11 floors. On each floor, there are six residential units, consisting of two double rooms and two triple rooms (except for the1st floor, where there are only single and double rooms). Each unit has a shared bathroom with a toilet, a shower and two wash basins. All rooms are furnished with beds (duvets and pillows), a table, and a wardrobe. There are also multimedia outlets providing cable TV to all residents. Internet access is available for students free of charge. On each floor, there is a student kitchen, a study room, and a laundry with a drying room. In addition, residents can use a billiard room, a TV room, a cafeteria and a car park around the building.

  8. We were also awarded the "Złota Skarbonka" (Golden Piggy Bank) award for efficiency of our business operations in the Lubuskie region.
  9. We are proud to have a women's basketball team in the premier women's basketball league in Poland. In the last five years, our team has won two silver and two bronze medals at the Polish Championships and played in the Euroleague.
  10. Our students enjoy free access to sports activities such as basketball, volleyball, football, swimming, and aerobics in a professional sports centre.
  11. At PWSZ, you may do a double degree in pedagogy (in the Polish and German educational systems).
  12. Our students may use the Microsoft Live@edu platform free of charge (which gives access to email, instant messaging, SMS alerts, etc.).
  13. We are also initiators and organizers of the successful "PiGi" Student Cabaret Review, which started in 2006.
  14. We work with local cultural institutions such as Jazz Club "Pod Filarami", the Juliusz Osterwa Theatre, and the Gorzów Philharmonic.
  15. Our students are encouraged to pursue their passions and interests by joining a variety of student research clubs, working on the student council, being involved in voluntary work, singing in the school choir or doing sports in the AZS PWSZ sports club.
  16. Students in need may receive financial assistance such as a need-based grant, food allowance, accommodation allowance, and a grant for students with disabilities.
  17. Our Career Centre ensures that our graduates enter the job market effectively and efficiently.
  18. Our teaching staff are a guarantee of high quality education.
  19. There is the School of Polish Language for Foreigners (Polish: Szkoła Języka Polskiego dla Cudzoziemców), which offers primary and intermediate Polish language courses, and one-to-one classes. We also operate a Polish Language Counselling Service (Polish: Akademicka Poradnia Językowa) used by those who are in doubt about their linguistic accuracy.
  20. We are licensed to administer international examinations (TELC) in English and German.
  21. The Academic Centre for Euroregional Research (Polish: Akademickie Centrum Badań Euroregionalnych, ACBE) is yet another organizational unit of the school. The aim of the research centre is to develop as a research facility researching into the history and culture of the region and the Euro-regions.
  22. The school operates the Academic Cultural Centre (Polish: Akademickie Centrum Kultury), which aims to promote the cultural life of the School and the city, supporting cultural initiatives of the whole academic community.
  23. Our students are able to study in a comfortable environment. The classrooms, computer and language labs, lecture halls, and an ultra-modern library are professionally equipped and adjusted to the needs of students with disabilities. Student accommodation is available at the modernised 11-story hall of residence called DeSant.
